What's your family dinner like?
Johny eating in his room playing a video game?
Susie eating in her room playing on a computer?
What's your family dinner conversation like?
Mom ask Susie how school was today, Susie answers fine!
Dad asks Johny what he learned in school today, Johny answers stuff!
I think it's time we bring the family back to the table and back to talking
about each other's days! Ya never know, you might just learn something new
about each other!
Here a few ideas to get you started:
Before dinner, give everyone an index card and have them list 5 emotions they felt during that day. (Examples; Happy, excited, nervous, etc)
Once at the table, ask each other to discuss & share their emotions and what caused them to feel that way
Have each other talk about the high & low points of their day.
Ask silly questions of each other.
(If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you bring and why.)
(If you could spend the day with one celebrity, who would it be and why)
(Would you rather be president of the US, or a famous rockstar)
(What is one thing that really grosses you out)
(If you could be on TV show, what would it be, and what actor would you play)
(What is your idea of a perfect day)
And on and on and on! These are just a few ideas that I can think of, I am sure many of you can think of others. Life is busy & so are we, but I do feel that we really need to sit down and enjoy 15 minutes of quality dinner time with our family.
So sit down with your family and do some table talk.
~Enjoy your dinner~
